This place is aptly named (Hell's Half Acre)...It's a lot more than a half acre, hot, and tears up shoes. I hiked the ~10mi trail while waiting for my son to arrive on a plane into Idaho Falls. Unfortunately I did not bring sunscreen and it was a nice clear, hot day and my arms and legs were not happy for the next several weeks. Also, 10 miles over lava rocks tears up any shoes, and mine were not the exception at all. The hike was interesting though since there aren't many like it. There really is no trail, you just follow poles in the ground to get the general direction until you make it to the end. All in all, it was different and interesting, but I'm not sure I would do it again. You can see Diamond Peak though from there so I did get some zoomed in photos of it before starting.
