Big Black Dome is 11,353 feet high. It was pretty steep most of the way, and unfortunately is was very smoky from some fire that was closeby. In the morning I thought that it might have just been cloudy, but getting higher up you could smell the smoke. It also means I got very few good distance pictures. It was a fairly easy climb though for an 11k peak, probably one of the easiest there is. There was a trail most of the way and where there wasn't, it was pretty obvious which way to go. All in all it was a fun hike although I would have liked to get some pictures of Standhope and Altair. You can also park a lot further up the road than I did to shorten up the trip if that is your thing.
